Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha in Nepali) is the world's highest mountain, with a peak at 8848m above the sea level. It is located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas on the Nepal side of Nepal-China (Tibet) border at the position of latitude 27'59'17" and longitude 86°55'31".Its massif includes neighboring peaks Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7855m) and Changtse (7580m).
Since the late 19th century, adventurous spirits have been fascinated with the ascent of the highest mountain in the world. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal & Sir Edmund Hillary became the first people to stand on the top of the world on May 29, 1953 through South Col. This route is technically easier and is the more frequently used route.
Various ascent statistics shows that the South Col route gives the best chance of reaching the summit, and of returning fit and well. This is mainly because the time spent at over 8,000 m is less, as the last camp on the way to the top is on the South Col, at just under 8,000 m. No exposure to the austerity and physiologically debilitating need to sleep at over 8,000 m.
